Cleveland Browns 2004 preseason NFL Announces Preseason Matchups The Cleveland Browns will host Detroit and Chicago and visit Tennessee and Kansas City in the 2004 NFL preseason, the National Football League announced today. The Browns open preseason play by visiting Tennessee the weekend of August 12-16, host Detroit the weekend of August 19-23, visit Kansas City between August 26-30, and then close the preseason against Chicago the weekend of September 2-5. The NFL released all 65 preseason matchups Monday and will announce official game dates and times at a later date. Although the Browns lost to Tennessee during last year’s preseason 10-6, Nashville is the site of two of the clubs most dramatic victories in recent years. Both of the last two Titans-Browns regular season match-ups have come down to the wire with Cleveland earning victories on K Phil Dawson field goals (41-38 on Dec. 30, 2001 and 31-28 OT on Sept. 22, 2002). The Browns trailed by 14 points in each game. Cleveland and Detroit will play in the third annual Great Lakes Classic with a charity selected by the winning team receiving $30,000 and the losing team’s charity collecting $20,000. The Browns won the inaugural Great Lakes Classic 24-23 on August 17, 2002, then lost last year 38-17, on August 23. The Browns also announced that free agent linebacker Warrick Holdman visited the club on Sunday. Holdman, 28, has five seasons of experience as an outside linebacker and special teams player with the Bears.
