Three Amish Family Members Die in House Fire
Fire officials say spilled fuel caused a weekend blaze that
claimed the lives of three Amish family members in Geauga
County. According to reports, a lamp tipped over and spilled the
fuel near a woodburning stove, igniting the deadly flames.
Seventy-eight-year-old Mose Burkholder, his wife, 77-year-old
Lydia, and their 55-year-old daughter, Elizabeth, were
discovered huddled together in the living room, where the blaze
began. Firefighters say battling the flames was a challenge, as
there are no hydrants in the area.
