Downtown Cleveland’s Medical Mart is getting a new name (thankfully). The mart will now be called the Global Center for Health Innovation. The change was made at the request of the tenants. (Could it be because it sounds similar to Drug Mart and Walmart?)
County Executive Ed Fitzgerald also announced the facility’s newest and largest tenant, the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society. It’s a health care IT company located in Chicago. They will take over an entire floor.
The facility is part of a $465 million convention complex that offers continuing education courses for doctors and hospital administrators and highlighting advances in medical technology. Other tenants include: Philips Healthcare, GE Healthcare, Johnson Controls, University Hospitals and the Cleveland Clinic.
Nearly 70 conventions have been booked and are set to start this summer.
