Cleveland Browns

Who is John Collins?

Carmen Policy Leaving Browns

Cleveland---In a report in Bernies Insiders www.berniesinsiders.com , as well as on CBS Sportsline and in an article by Pat McManamon, the Browns announced today that Carmen Policy will step down as President and CEO of the Browns effective at the conclusion of the season. He will return to his 10 acre property in the NAPA valley to bottle wine under his family named label. He is to stay on as a "consultant" for the Browns.

Some speculate that this move is actually to clear the way to push for the NFL's commissioners job, or in fact, to be in line to run the possible Los Angeles NFL team.

John Collins, Senior VP of Marketing and Sales for the NFL will replace Policy at the end of the current football season. He has no "Club Level" experience but has a wealth of knowledge and has been instrumental in many developmental projects for NFL properties.

No rift between Policy and either Randy Lerner or Butch Davis was reported.

Browns Lose after leading by 17.

It seemed too good to be true. The Browns played like a team that was destined to go all the way, or at least make it to Oakland to revenge "Red Right 88". But it was the same old heartbreak as they found a way to lose.  The Offense played well at times but it was not enough. When it really counted they could not get a first down. The defense played well in the first 3 quarter but gave up too many penalties and passing yard by the other teams quarterback. Well at least Ohio State won. Maybe next year for the Browns.

Ravens Playoff Hopes Dashed… Browns Have Hope by Mark Riley

Browns Manage Late Rally, Stay In Playoff Hunt 14-13
BALTIMORE -- Even the creative folks in Hollywood would be hard-pressed to concoct a season like the Cleveland Browns have had. They lost one game when a player was penalized for throwing his helmet, another game one play after blocking a field goal in overtime. They've won on a Hail Mary -- and lost after having first-and-goal in the final minute. If this is the most bizarre NFL season ever, then the Browns truly are the face of that campaign -- and still alive in the AFC playoff chase after a dramatic, 14-13 win Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens.

"Orange Rush" Corrals Texans by Mark Riley

Sporting Bright Orange "Alternate" Jerseys, the Cleveland Browns got back on the winning track with a convincing defeat of the Houston Texans 34-17. The Browns Defense hounded QB David Carr with 9 sacks on the day, and once again, the Special Teams came up with a huge play, a 95 yd. kick return for a TD by rookie sensation Andre Davis. More

Browns win against Texans 34-17.

The special teams and defense stepped up to assure a victory against the expansion Houston team. A 95 yard kickoff return for a touchdown by Andre' Davis and 9 sacks by the defense highlighted a strong second half. The other highlight for a longtime Browns fan was a tribute to the 1950 championship team. In attendance during halftime included Browns greats, Otto Gram and others.
