taken out of the game after the Texans tossed a halfback
option pass for a 39 yd. TD to take the lead on the Browns
14-10, early in the 3rd Quarter. From that point on, the
defense really stepped up with 5 sacks of Carr, who played
extremely well in the loss. Carr showed some serious poise for
a rookie, checking off on as many as 3 pass routes before
delivering picture perfect passes to a number of receivers,
including ex-Brown JuJuan Dawson.
The "sack-fest" the Browns enjoyed could not have
come at better time, as the Browns defense had not recorded a
sack for 13 consecutive quarters. Mark Word, Tyrone Rogers and
Kenard Lang all had 2 sacks a piece.
On the offensive side of the ball, Tim Couch had a good
night passing, with yet another rookie, Quincy Morgan,
grabbing a number of epic passes including a 41yd. TD in the
corner in front of the Dawg Pound.
Cleveland's final TD came after LB (and ANOTHER rookie)
Kevin Bentley recovered a fumble by Carr at the Texans
4yd.line. Jamel White sprinted to the corner of the end zone
to put the exclamation point on a truly team effort.
It was great to see Tim Couch run off the field after the
game to the cheers of
